CEM has been working with primary schools since 1993 when the PIPS project was established with 40 schools. We now collect data on around 450,000 pupils each year, and PIPS is available in 8 countries and in several languages. ASPECTS (Assessment Profile on Entry for Children and Toddlers) was established 5 years ago and assesses the early reading and numeracy skills of nursery age children, the results from which can be fed into the PIPS system in Reception to monitor the progress of pupils. More recently, InCAS (Interactive Computerised Assessment System) has been introduced which is a diagnostic assessment of reading and mathematics. Click on the links below for more information on any of these assessment programmes.

Pupil monitoring is one aspect of the work we undertake at CEM. Visit the CEM Extra web pages to find out more about other services we can offer to schools.

Select an Assessment from the list below:-

  • InCAS
InCAS (Interactive Computerised Assessment System) is a personalised diagnostic assessment.  InCAS is fully adaptive, generates age-equivalent scores and can be used at any time of year.
  • PIPS
Performance Indicators in Primary Schools (PIPS) is a pupil monitoring system for the Primary sector.
  • ASPECTS
The Assessment Profile on Entry for Children and Toddlers (ASPECTS) provides a baseline for children starting nursery from which progress can be measured.  It assesses personal, social and emotional development, language and mathematics development, and motor development using a combination of objective tasks and teacher observation.  Age-related scores are given for each child at the start and end of nursery and feedback about relative progress at the end of nursery.
